my sons acer laptop had water spilt on it. sent it back to DSE for repairs, who sent it on to acer. they said they had to replace motherboard. gave me a quote of $1498. i laughed at them and said no thanks, then spoke to my insurance co who said they would cover it, so i told DSE to go ahead. ACER said they would have to re evaluate quote. another 10 days go by and i get a new quote for $950. i asked why the huge diff, but nobody knows....?????
something very odd about that.
anyhoo, i get the thing back all fixed and working ok, but the keyboard and mouse/fingerpad are all warped out of shape. so back to the shop it goes, now have to wait another friggin 10 days to get it evaluated! i have emailed the manager at ACER and gave him the above story and also complained, but as yet have heard nothing.
just a heads up guys. lets be careful out there.....

313151 2005-01-12 02:11:00 Realistically - only for minor repairs, as stated in the warranty. Although this problem doesn't seem to have been handled properly. It may depend on where & which Acer agency or Acer direct. quarry (252)

Yeah I don't imagine that covers user error etc.

"Oh I just backed over my laptop, but your warranty says you have to fix it in 2 hours"

Not likely.
