| 314216 | 2005-01-15 04:02:00 | in my dad's old ibm thinkpad laptop i cant install a cd rom i runs on win 98se 24 ram 150Mhz processor the cd rom is a external and connects to the laptop with a normal laptop cable not a usb cable. But the problem is whenver i try to connect the cd rom to the laptop the laptop screen goes blank and shuts down immediately it happened quite a lot of times Then i have to disconnect the cdrom from the laptop to make it on please help |

| 314217 | 2005-01-15 04:58:00 | connects to the laptop with a normal laptop cable not a usb cable. What is "a normal laptop cable"? If the laptop is actually powering down, that suggests that the CD Rom is faulty, or that the power supply is unable to supply the power needed for both. |

None of the pins are bent/touching on the connecting plug ? |
