2005-02-11 04:41:00 | ok the problems back. I discovered now that it is FULLY something to do with the Internal Dynalink adsl modem i have. Model ALH181. I've rung dynalink couple times and he suggested fresh install windows check settings all that. This is a fresh install of windows on a new hard drive even and VPI: 0 VCI: 100. I'm still having the same problem though. Takes longer than usual to connect and it picks up the line speed but just goes ****ing slow. Like Under 64k. [NOT CAPPED]. I've tested the line even with my 3com router which gets fine speeds. Anyone :S :S

2005-02-11 05:24:00 | are you sure you have the latest drivers? | Prescott (11) | |

Ethernet is usually less troublesome if you have issues (as is external vs internal PCI). Get hold of Dynalink again and ask them to walk you through a factory reset of the modem, if such a thing can be done on that model, at the least reset all the user input settings. Is there a firmware upgrade available for it? Look for something on your PC hogging your throughput. Have you done a speed test on the net? |

2005-02-11 05:43:00 | Yea. I downloaded them from the dyanlink website direct. ALH181 ADSL Internal PCI www.dynalink.co.nz Speed test will give a result of below 64k no doubt. Took about 3-4 minutes to load PF1 main and a couple refreshes at that. Someone said I should put the DNS servers in.... Anyone able to tell me what they are for 2mbit xtra jetstream? Can't really browse sites easily atm :S Like I said it's fully fresh install of windows so theres no previous settings :S Not sure if theres a firmware update. All I did was go to dynalink as I said above and dload the latest driver. It used to work on a GA7VA motherboard but now on my new Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ it just wont work. Fresh install even!!!

2005-02-11 07:20:00 | Are the routers settings on Auto or Detect? Try specifying them: Authentication mode: PAP Encapsulation: VC MUX VPI: 0 VCI: 100

2005-02-11 09:34:00 | Yea err I gave up on the internal. Chucked the 3com in. Dynalink can go die for all i care. taking that modem back. | Fatjoz (6366) | |
2005-02-12 02:22:00 | Ring Telecom Jetstream to get it sorted: 123. Xtra are just the ISP and the limiting happens with Telecoms services. | E|im (87) | |
2005-02-12 02:24:00 | Na dude it's not about being limited. It's about the actual internal modem giving errors heaps of times when trying to connect and even when it does connect, running at like 2/3kbps. I'm not capped, I know that.
