314234 2005-01-15 04:46:00 Is it possible to get a usb to ps2 adapter? Cicero (40)
314235 2005-01-15 04:54:00 A qualified yes and no.

Some mice are supplied with such a converter, but it is designed only to suit that type of mouse and does not "magically" turn a PS2 port into a USB port.

Perhaps if we knew what the reason for the question was, we could be more helpful?

314236 2005-01-15 05:03:00 Hi Cicero. I may be reversing your request, but I recently bought from DSE a USB 2.0 dock + PS/2 Converter. Scouse (83)

My keyboard came with a usb connection. We have spoken of this before,it means if I have to use Goback,I have to drag out an old ps2 board.
You will remember the usb board doesn't become alive till boot up complete,by which time Goback has long gone.

314239 2005-01-15 05:48:00 Reverse logic, depends on which "direction" you view the matter .

If your keyboard was capable of running from PS2 or USB it should have been supplied with a USB to PS2 adapter (or, from the other viewpoint a PS2 to USB adapter) .

Many are, certainly a couple here are interchangeable and came with adapters . But I would only buy a keyboard or mouse that was dual use, as I use a KVM switch that only supports PS2 .

So the answer is, if it came with an adapter, then yes . But if it did you would not have been asking this question?

It's not a simple "pin to pin" conversion, the logic levels differ and the electronics in the keyboard have to support either system .

Just buy a new keyboard that has an adapter, as a late Xmas present?

314241 2005-01-15 06:41:00 $82?

But it comes with $3 ball mice.....

Just go buy a mouse that has one, shouldn't be more than $15.

$82!!!!!!!!! HOW THE HELL does that work?

They like, barely have any circuitry at all.....

USB keyboard should work before the OS even fires up. check in BIOS that USB keyboard support is turned on.
