1362874 2013-12-17 05:35:00 So yeah, I thought that it was time to build a PC that'd last me for some years while keeping up with modern games on ultra. I got all the parts on 3 black fridays (US black Friday, NZ black Friday and the actual black Friday) and on 12 days of xmas sales.

CPU: I chose the Intel i5 4570 because it was a very good mid-range CPU and I didn't feel like paying the extra to get an unlocked processor to OC.

Cooler: I chose the CM TPC 812 because it was an absolute steal at the price and it's quite decent cooling performance but is intended to be a placeholder before I get a CM Seidon 120 or Corsair H60 and run a push/pull setup as prices are lowering month by month :)
Motherboard: I chose the ASUS H87m-PRO because it was the most feature packed H87, having everything I wanted and nothing I didn't. I chose the H87 chipset because it basically is a Z87 without OC, which I didn't need.

Memory: I basically got the cheapest low profile 8GB 1600MHz RAM i could get. In the future I'd like to get another 8GB of ram because in normal use (having Chrome, iTunes and skype open) uses 3GB of ram and on top of that I set the Intel HD Graphics to have 512MB of VRAM while my 270x's order is being processed ATM... And with Samsung's SSD Magician, I can run R.A.P.I.D mode without worrying about RAM issues.

SSD: I chose the Samsung 840 EVO because it is the most popular SSD at the moment and has really good performance.

HDD: I chose the WD Caviar Black because it was recommended to me and I prefer WD as to Seagate. 2TB is waaay too much for me, as I am using 112GB of the 2TB currently but who knows what can happen.

GPU: (I DO NOT HAVE IT YET, IT IS BEING SHIPPED ATM) I wanted the Gigabyte 760 Rev.2 but all of my mates were like no get a 280x but I didn't have the money so I got the 270x which only has a few less FPS in general compared to the 760 while being waaay cheaper.
Optical Drive: I wanted a Blu-Ray drive so I just got one.

PSU: It was an absolute deal for a 650W 80+ Gold PSU!

Case: I chose the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 because I got a mATX motherboard so I might as well just get a mATX case, airflow is great with the 3 included fans and it is silent as hell! I originally wanted to go the Corsair side because the 2 other
PC's in the house use the 600R and the 500R respectively but the specs and reviews pointed out the 200R and the 230T (My preferred choices) wouldn't fit my TPC 812 so I went with the Fractal.

Thanks for reading my build!

1362875 2013-12-17 06:08:00 Nice, I might have chosen the same parts myself except for the cooler. You call it a place holder for a better one, why? Without OC the stock cooler is fine and anything else is overkill.
I doubt the temps will even get warm for the CPU specs with the one you have.

1362876 2013-12-17 06:11:00 Nice build

Good to see some decent cable management.

Just going to point out that the 812 is probably better than a Corsair h60, considering it is about as good (if not better) than the Antec Kuhler 920.

I just find it aesthetically a bit big but that's just nitpicking...

Haha, I try with the cables..

It's nearly as good than the H80 and the H80 is waaay better than the H60, right?

BTW, the PSU is the CM V650s 80+ Gold PSU, semi modular, helps with dem cables

1362878 2013-12-17 08:16:00 The H80 has a thicker radiator than the H60 so it should perform better than the H60. I would imagine the difference will be maybe 2 degrees at idle and 4-5 under load. icow (15313)
1362879 2013-12-17 17:49:00 I got the 270x

Nice.
