1362643 2013-12-15 02:07:00 Heard some weeks back that the new EMUs were doing test runs near Puhinui, but yesterday I saw one stopped at Onehunga station so it seems as though there is some testing going on there as well. Sorry I don't have a photo. I was too far away.

Not long before they will be in service. Looking forward to that.

What Roscoe has seen is the first EMU to visit Onehunga - another milestone. :p

It's still taking one hell of a ling time to complete the roll out. What about the areas that aren't going electric like Waitakere. Will the ever get electrified or be buses from the end of 2015?? They need to extend electrification down to Hamilton to complete the line..

In rail, milestones pass quite often, sometimes 3 in an hour . Not every day, but if you watch carefully . . .

We've got infrastructure and 57 brand new trains to test, it will take a while ;)

Waitakere won't be electrified as the tunnel is too small and the costs to increase clearance, or daylight, are huge. Buses will be put on instead - a diesel shuttle train is also too costly.

They need to extend electrification down to Hamilton to complete the line..

If Hamilton is done then it needs to be done to Tauranga as well as that's where most of the trains go.

Thought I read that the NIMT and Ak suburban lines have differing voltages/ current.
