1377525 2014-06-21 23:03:00 Just a WARNING about people who sell MS products on trademe. Some of them are illegal, not genuine items, or some supply either technet /MSDN or KMS keys.

The other day I was contacted by a customer of mine who brought a retail Version of MS Office 2013 Professional Normal price in shops is close to $700 As advertised at www.ascent.co.nz (www.ascent.co.nz) - She got it for $130

No way in is that legal, (told her sorry I'm not installing it) it was meant to be the full version and they were going to be emailed the product key ( 3 days later still no sign of it). I looked the guy up on trademe, and hes got lots of MS products all saying the same thing, you dont get any media only the product keys emailed. There was other things like Windows 8.1 for $2 Thats not a typo - Two Dollars, Windows 7 Professional $10 -- legally purchased from Microsoft he claims. Pull the other one it plays jingle bells.
:tui:

Just looked at the link above - Alarm bell should ring In the ad its stated Really ?? I've installed and activated w7 pro pre sp1 with a sp1 key (legally) No problems at all.

I understand what your saying and that is one reason I'm posting here. You seem to know what's going on so would I be safe by ordering from say amazon.com, tigerdirect.com egghead, and all the big online companies?

You should be perfectly safe ordering form those places, it wouldn't be in their good interest to sell dodgy /illegal items. Never tried myself as I get anything like that from some of my suppliers ( Synnex, Dove etc) these are wholesalers so dont sell to the public.

What you should receive is a DVD in the correct packaging as per this example ( its OEM) windows_7_professional_oem_microsoft_windows_7_pro fessional_64_bit.jpg (www.productkeysticker.com fessional_64_bit.jpg) AFAIK, microsoft no longer sell W7 online. With W8 / W8.1 you brought the License Key, and you were given a Download link, as well as a email confirming your purchase, Product key etc. ( instantly)

1377527 2014-06-22 11:03:00 You didn't mention E-bay but if you are looking there bear in mind it's similar to trademe in that anyone can be selling there. dugimodo (138)
1377528 2014-06-22 12:18:00 eBay has pretty strong buyer protection these days, sellers cannot even leave negative feedback now. Renegade (16270)
1377529 2014-06-22 22:46:00 Buy Win8 Pro & use downgrade rights to install Win7 ??
You'll still need to find a 7 key to use

What does the notation '1 Year license' mean in that ad.

Surely you don't have to pay an annuual license fee to use MSO 2013?:eek:

Cheers

Billy 8-{) Looks like they have gotten their ad a bit mucked up.

Theres two versions Of Office.

Office 2013, Single user (Generally) - you pay one for what ever version you want - that's it.

Office 365 - Subscription Based, A LOT cheaper, esp when on multi Devices, and you pay every year.
One that's Very popular is the OFFICE 365 HOME PREMIUM 5PCS Its The professional version, 5 users, and costs roughly $140 / Year.
Has Word 2013, Excel 2013, PowerPoint 2013, Outlook 2013, OneNote 20132, Publisher 2013, and Access 2013. office.microsoft.com

To make it a bit clearer, if you brought Office 2013 Professional you can only put it on one PC, @ about $700, so if you wanted it on 5 PC's that would be 5 separate licences = $3500.

With the Office 365, its the same Professional Version (but has some more online options as well) , cheaper overall + With office 365, when ever a newer version comes out you are upgraded to that as part of the subscription if you want it.

1377532 2014-06-23 07:51:00 It seems to me that if Microsoft is no longer selling W7 they can not object if you buy it elsewhere!
If Toyota has stopped selling a particular model of car, you can buy one elsewhere. Does not have to be new so long as it works.

The Current End of Sale for Home (OEM ) is October 31, 2014 . End of sale for Retail was October 31, 2013 ( thats why you'll be hard pressed to find retail in any shops)

Selling pirated or illegal licenses on Trademe me is nothing but dishonest.
