The stories tell us that Jesus was BORN at Christmas. His DEATH and resurrection occured at Eastertime, so why a wreath at Christmas? The Christmas wreath was originally a four pointed star and represented the season of Advent, being four weeks before Jesus' birth. A wreath can represent other things that are not always to do with death. |

| 1362677 | 2013-12-15 18:08:00 | The stories tell us that Jesus was BORN at Christmas. Yes the fairy tales mention the shepherds being out with their flocks and noticing the star and all that. Anyone noticed it snows in Israel in December? Shepherds did not go out in winter with the sheep. While the birth year of Jesus is estimated to have been between 7 and 2 BC, the exact month and day of his birth are unknown. (Note that inconsistency too) The date of Christmas may have initially been chosen to correspond with one or more ancient polytheistic festivals that occurred near southern solstice (i.e., the Roman winter solstice). The original date of the celebration in Eastern Christianity was January 6, in connection with Epiphany, and that is still the date of the celebration for the Armenian Apostolic Church and in Armenia, where it is a public holiday. So Happy Pagan holidays. |

Was there ever a guy called Jesus who according to the holy bible was born from a virgin mother, performed all kind of miracles, was crucified by the Romans and a few days later rolled back the huge stone blocking his grave entrance and went to a fictitious place called heaven, from which place he will return - some people thought it was Elvis Presley! Wishful, naive thinking. Many would argue that religion has throughout history played a major part in sustaining high moral standards in society but I would suggest that religious and tribal beliefs have been more responsible for death and suffering than any other cause and continues today. |

| 1362681 | 2013-12-15 22:49:00 | Was there ever a guy called Jesus who according to the holy bible. There are only 4 "books" that mention such a person in it. No other archeological document has ever been found mentioning one - and the romans kept records of all **** stirrers they executed. |

And then there's diseases and natural calamities which certainly aren't religiously caused. |
