If a PC's software/app had all that bundled adware it would be labeled as malware, yet this is OK on Android apps Just why does a newspaper app need access to the phones camera ?? Just why do apps need access to you contact list, your microphone, why does that app need permissions to send txt's Apps on the google store have been found to do all sorts of stuff. One app even had code to try & use the phones for litecoin mining . |

| 1378349 | 2014-07-03 07:21:00 | Yep I said none then and I am still using none now. A bit of common sense in what you put on the phone is good enough for me. Unless you store secure documents or bank details on your phone what's the worst that can happen? A factory reset takes a few mins and the phone still works. A while back an app I use was in the news for some dodgy behaviour so I installed some recommended security software briefly, used it for a week and removed it. There were no detected issues despite over a year of phone use without any protection. |

| 1378351 | 2014-07-03 10:31:00 | I recently had one on my Transformer TF 101 called CM Security. It scanned things and said all is ok. It also had a find my phone feature. Which seemed to work ok. However, it did slow my tablet down somewhat, so I uninstalled it when I read the Google item on Stuff this morning. Apparently not needed on Android. LL |
