| 315035 | 2005-01-17 07:08:00 | At the weekend Xtra had yet another problem with broadband with many customers unable to connect with their ISP [Xtra]. They finally 'solved' whatever the problem after about 8 hours. In their usual style no financial credits for their captive clients. However, an amazing thing has happened. Although I have the 1MB download service it used to take 65 seconds for PCWorld to download. It now takes about 25 seconds - but I should mention PC World in the US takes only 5 seconds. But another site I visit on with Clearnet as its ISP doesn't show at all! The Web is sure getting weird and wonderful. By the way I got to do a check on what was happening when I previously visited PC world BY using Web History in Norton AntiVirus and MY REQUEST was continuosly being redirected by nz.imrworldwide then timing out and being redirected again. I've heard of things like sextracker but this seems far worse. It also seems to be connected with the Neilson organisation. You are being watched by PC world! Rob |

Rob PCWorld is trying to measure various things about visitors and visits to its site for selling advertising space etc - it's no big deal. Imrworldwide runs RedSheriff, and if you look at the page source for PCWorld you would see a script in there that is downloaded from an imrworldwide server someplace. So I guess if the imrworldwide server is slow, PCWorld page-loading would slow as well... |

| 315038 | 2005-01-18 00:45:00 | According to speed tests I am usually downloading around 950 to 1mb and this is what baffles me. After all, the US PC World site opens up within a few seconds compra up to 65 seconds for the NZ site! I have no problem with any other sites. | Rob (6897) | ||
