314875 2005-01-16 22:59:00 My Uncle is looking for a good dialup plan. All he is going to be doing is checking emails, and a tiny bit of surfing, maybe 5 hours a month or something.

Any recommedations?

314876 2005-01-16 23:02:00 Have a look through the ISP's listed here (www.netguide.co.nz). Depending on the area, there may be a local ISP that can do him a better deal than a national one :)

Edit: this one (www.slingshot.co.nz) seems good value for light use

314877 2005-01-16 23:16:00 orcon seems to have a $14.95 unlimited plan, but you have to play 3 months in advance, i am looking into getting this plan as it is cheaper than xtra, is this a good plan? any suggestions? that also could be something for you, but probably too expensive to little use Prescott (11)

314879 2005-01-16 23:26:00 Actrix offer two plans that appear to be the cheapest solutions that I know of. The first is their pay-as-you-go "Cyberbyte 1" one cent per minute plan which will probably be the best option. It requires a $2 per month account fee and a top-up fee of $10 minimum.

Alternatively there is the "Cyberbyte 30" plan which costs $9.95 for 30 hours per month.

Check out all the options here (www.actrix.co.nz).

And no, I do not work for them.

314880 2005-01-16 23:35:00 Just a quick word of recommendation for good ol' Slingshot.
$9.95 per month if you agree to do all your tolls through them (I don't make toll calls anymore - thanks, Yahoo Messenger :) so it makes no difference to me.)
$16.95 per month if you don't do your tolls through them, but I was always been able to dial in first time & their free email tech support is very good.

I've upgraded to Slingshot's broadband now, but service & speed-wise, they're worth consideration.

314881 2005-01-29 05:24:00 Try KOL for only $6.95 a month for off peak.
Or pay 3 months in advance for only $24.90 ($8.30 a month) unlimited.
There have been a few negative comments about KOL but they seemed to have fixed these problems just recently.

No more engaged signals, and fast.

Luck.
