| 314847 | 2005-01-16 18:13:00 | Hi, I always get this message coming up on my screen, and in my taskbar. "Windows needs your current credentials to ensure network connectivity. Please lock this computer, then unlock it using your most recent password or smart card. To lock your computer, press CTRL-ALT-DEL and then press Enter" I've tried this time and time againm, but it doesn't make any difference! |

Description of the Windows XP Professional Fast Logon Optimization Feature support.microsoft.com Windows XP is giving me a message in the system tray "Windows needs your current credentials. Please lock this computer, then unlock it using your most recent password or smart card. Please click the icon to see more information." This appears to be a random bug under WinXP, but we do have a fix that you can apply on the affected computer. Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC Under computer configuration, expand \administrative templates\system\logon\. Select the "Always wait for the network at computer startup" value. The default state is "not configured". Set this to "On" hth |
