314835 2005-01-16 09:54:00 Uninstall problem
Hi....I recently had a lockup with XP. The only thing that moved was the mouse cursor but it could not activate anything. After several hard restarts with no change I got things going again with Restore, but it has left me with an uninstall problem. This involves the burn software B's Gold Rcorder which refused to recognise any disk or show them in Win Ex. I decided to Uninstall then install it again but in Control Panel /Add-Remove the remove came to a stop with the familiar box headed Shared File Detected and quoted the file c:\windows\system 32\lfflc12n.dll and the optiom to delete it or not. Decided not to and the unistall stalled...tried yes and it stayed stalled.
The only thing that worked was quit the uninstall. Now the program is not on the Start All Programs menu, not in Program Files and it seemed a good idea to try a reinstall from the CD. But after a long pause the CD menu gives me Confirm Uninstall./Do you wish to completely remove the selected application and all its components.?
And when I say yes it takes me back to the box warning about the above mentioned dll. So I'm caught in a loop. Sorry it needed so many words. Any help on this subject would be great. Cheers Ken :help:

314836 2005-01-16 19:33:00 That dll file isnt part of XP as far as I know .

Try going to

c:/documents and settings/username/application data/program name

Delete the folder relating to Recorder Gold, if its here somewhere .

(Show all files thru My Computer) . As you wont see Application data folder otherwise . And also c:/program files/common files . Look for the folder relating to Recorder Gold here (might be a folder under the company/people who made it) . If the folder is here, delete it . If you can manage to reinstall Recorder Gold, it SHOULD recreate this folder . And the folder under application data, if it created a folder before .

Then try and reinstall Recorder Gold .

314839 2005-01-17 19:14:00 I would click yes to the question that you click no to. Then try to install again. Rob99 (151)
314840 2005-01-17 20:27:00 Easiest way, download RegistryCleaner (www.majorgeeks.com) and on the opening page, tick anything to do with the program.
Then click on the remove button.
Next, lefthand side, click on uninstall Menu, do the same as previously.
Next , click Tools-Registry Cleaner , and on the next screen, untick the Show Ignored Entrys.
Then continue. When finished, using the top menu, Select-All , then remove.
Restart and install the program.

314841 2005-01-18 09:16:00 Thanks for those replies folks...I'll start on those suggestions tonight but they will keep me busy for a while. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've been using a roxio program for several years but B's Gold came with my LG burner and I'm not all that keen on it. In the meantime I'm using a freebie.. CDBurnerXP Pro and enjoying it and the available forum. I could never find a forum for B's Gold....and thanks for the link to their faq Speedy. Cheers Ken.
