314802 2005-01-16 07:54:00 i know you hear everyone say it, BUT, how much DO you think this is worth, brand new, only used a couple of times, Athlon 64 3000+, 512mb ddr400 pc3200, ati radeon 9600xt 128mb, Seagate Barracuda 120gb, Double Layer 16x Dvd writer (Nu Brand), Pixelview Playtv Pro, on a Gigabyte k8ns motherboard. comes with a barely used 17" CMV lcd monitor 12ms response, everything was bought brand new and fully assembled just dont want it any more. I am not trying to solicit a sale, just wondering what it would be worth Tux (606)
314803 2005-01-16 08:55:00 I'll give ya 1/2 what it would cost me on pricespy.
Secondhand computer stuff..... going cheap.
I'd wanna know why you are selling.

314805 2005-01-16 09:18:00 the thing is, i built it myself, all from brand new parts, just finished building it, decided, no, i wouldnt mind a laptop instead, so testing the market to see what it would be worth, i wont say how much it cost me to build, but it cost me a hell of a lot more in december last year than what you guys seem to think its worth :) Tux (606)
314806 2005-01-16 10:14:00 Add up what it cost you and then a small profit 50~100 and sell it as brand new if the BSE or trademe Rob99 (151)
314807 2005-01-16 10:34:00 Well if it was all new it looks like it would have cost about $2000 to build(I might have over extaggerated the price of the LCD though)

Probably a fair price secondhand is between $1300-$1500

I know whats it worth but thats a different thing from what you can get for it.
Say you are lookingat 1500- 1600 bucks for what it should have cost you, and then put yourself in the mind of joe consumer who wants a bargain or a new as in new system with a warranty and all the other baloney they think they are getting from a whiteware shop.
An enthusisist would make there own for that price or less and the less technically minded would want the "peace of mind' of a warranty
Not saying you wouldn't get what you wanted should you sell it but its a difficult price range to sell a comp in.

314810 2005-01-16 11:43:00 These go brand new on Trademe, around $1000 for what you have.

In fact I used to sell a PC on Trademe with those exact specs, until TM ripped me off majorly, lost several hundred bucks - don't wanna use them again :(

I would say $1000 - $1100 would be a good price.

You should have paid about $900 - $1000 for that lot?

314811 2005-01-16 16:25:00 Well just as an example.
I had a one month old HP Pavillion with p4 2.8. 512 megs. c/w fire wire card reader. DVD etc. etc. for auction on Trade Me over the past week. Under warranty etc.
Didn't get a single bid. My reserve was $1000. $500 under cost.
I'd say you would be wasting your time trying to sell on Trade Me unless you were giving it away.

I did think of trying again with no reserve , just to see what came up. But no,
I'm not a charatible organisation.
