314684 2005-01-16 04:55:00 Hello, I have a problem with a motherboard (biostat m6sba) detecting a new fujitsu 20g harddrie. the 2.1G barrier is not the problem as the old dick was 4.3 and was recognised as such. The mb did recognise the new drive for a couple of weeks and now wont. Does anyone know what the problem is???

I have checked connections etc but no change.

314685 2005-01-16 05:14:00 I would check the ide cable and the power supply going to the hard drive .

See if theyre in properly . Since it was going before .

What ide connection is it on?? Primary or Secondary?? And what else is connected to it?? Is it by itself or is a cd on the same ide connection??

And what version of windows is on it?? If windows was installed .

Does the system go at all??

314686 2005-01-16 05:23:00 Have checked the cables, its running XP but doesnt get through to that because the disk is not detected and when I ask the bios to auto detect the hdd it says it does not have one. Fourpawz (6882)
314687 2005-01-16 05:33:00 Is it the only hard drive in the system?? Or have u got 2 hdd's in the case?

Any CD's/DVD's installed?

Have u set it to master or slave??

314688 2005-01-16 05:42:00 Try your old drive (or another one) back in again & see if that detects
Will it detect a boot floppy or a bootable CD
Your new drive might be screwed or the BIOS may be shot & need flashed

314689 2005-01-16 19:05:00 If you reinstall your old HDD and set the new disk as slave, does it detect in disk management? Right click My Computer and select Manage > Disk Management. You might be able to get an indication of its status or perform a reformat as last resort. pixeldust (6619)
