315018 2005-02-11 06:29:00 Ouch! I purchased my scanner new in '97 or '98. I posted the previous message from work. When I went home, I looked on the back of the scanner since I had not done so since it was purchased. There is also a 25 pin connector that I did not remember.
When I find my book I will let you know what it is for if you do not find out before that time. It may let you piggyback a printer. There is an instruction manual that you can download from umax.com for the Powerlook lll. The connectors could be the same.
The way you hook up your scanner is to purchase a PCI SCSI card from UMAX.com for $40.00 and attach it to an extra port in your computer. Hook up with the SCSI cord from the connecton in the center of the Powerlook then to the card in your computer. Important! You have to turn on the scanner, wait until it is comptetely on, then turn on your computer for the computer to recognize the scanner.
Good Luck!

315019 2005-02-11 07:44:00 Thanks Rhonda, but frankly I’ve given up on it. Firstly because I didn’t need it, and secondly because in the end, I just couldn’t be bothered going to the time and trouble to get it to conform. :D

Never mind, it’s sitting in the corner in disgrace and if you ever need any spare parts you know where to find them. :)

Cheers

315020 2005-03-04 01:00:00 I am sorry you had to give up. It is a professional scanner that originally cost about 12 to 14 hundred dollars. I purchased just before the Powerlook lll came out and pur. for $799. You cannot even download a manual for it at Umax anymore (mine is over 6 years old). I found my book and talked to personel at Umax. The other connector is an SCSI connector to piggyback any other SCSI device. If you change your mind, the PCI SCSI card is only $40. and you can download MagicScan 4.5 for free on Umax.com. I had wanted to scan all of our family pictures, but I found it would take too long (it is good, but not fast). If it works, I may be interested in purchasing it from you. Freight may be too high though.
