315445 2005-01-18 08:33:00 Any of those with a Netgear router and Orcon Bitstream...

What configuration have you got? I have my router (DG834) all set up correctly, I get a high ID and 'open' on KAD. When ever I start a download (or resume it) it takes about 10-15 seconds to get the info off peers (stuff like the queue position). eDonkey 2000 acts the same, so does Bittorrent to some degree. I'm not sure wahts causing this though. Any ideas anyone? Someone mentioned setting the MTU size but I'm not even sure what that is so I decided to leave it.

315447 2005-01-18 09:16:00 On dialup (with Slingshot) it used to fly! It would connect very fast and would get the status of clients 10 or so at a time. Half the time now, I can't even connect to servers, like Razorback 2 is very big, but alot of the time the request to login times out, as does it for ifreesex.net (sigh) I can't think why.

When I ping Trademe I get pings of 150ms and pcworld.com gives me about 300-350.

Not connecting to servers is a moot point. Servers come and go like....

....

something that comes and goes.

315449 2005-01-18 11:41:00 Its bloody marvelous since I got on to bliink! Connects to EVERYTHING in a matter of a second, maybe two..

Razorback connects first time every time. I couldnt even get a connection to most whilst on 2mbps.

Ninja's right... you get used to it after a while ;)

315452 2005-01-18 23:17:00 Meant that maybe the hosts were rejecting your 222 ADSL IP based on it's bogosity, not the bogosity of the hosts you were trying to connect to. ninja (1671)
