316132 2005-01-20 15:59:00 What will you be using the computer for? If you want it for gaming or video editing you will be paying more then you would for a system used for word processing and internet. :) 4bes (2848)

In every instance it has been followed up with a reply,as this one has by KOz .

I've no doubt it will be followed by a POLITE discussion on the merits of Intel and AMD .

Etc . etc . etc .

$2500 would buy a very powerful rig in either intel or amd flavour (and though I am intel inclined, amd seems best performance/value at the moment)
Without knowing what your intended purpose is, just a word of advice ----- don't buy from a whiteware shop . A dedicated computer specialist shop is what you want so your location is also relevant in this equation as to where you source it from .

316135 2005-01-20 23:16:00 If I had a spare $2500, I wouldn't say no to this (www.trademe.co.nz). $1900 (www.trademe.co.nz) can buy you quite a lot, too, if you can't be bothered building it yourself. You could always buy a bare bones kit and upgrade to your own specs too.

But of course, the trademe ones are cheaper as they don't have a warranty, but you could always enquire whether they are prepared to offer one.

316136 2005-01-21 06:33:00 I would be using this system for mainly gaming .

PS: Anyone here know where I could get a PCI-E board for the Athlon??

316137 2005-01-21 06:45:00 Not where, but rather when,and the answer would be.....soonish.

Nforce 4 boards which are PCI-E can't be far away, and ATI have a new Motherboard design that should be in production that suports pci-e....
