317006 2005-01-22 10:00:00 I have just discovered that Outlook 2000 has stopped emptying my deleted items folder on exit. Looking at the dates on the messages , it looks like it stopped on the 16th. I've not changed any of my Outlook settings - the relevant check boxes are all still ticked.

I found a MS KB article that talked about registry settings which I checked and as far as I could tell they were correct.

This is obviously not a big deal, but I would like to know why my Outlook has suddenly got a mind of its own.

Please keep the anti Microsoft/Outlook brain dumps to a minimum. :D

So you will have done this!

Tools | Options | Other menu . Click on the Empty Deleted Items Folder Upon Exiting checkbox .

317008 2005-01-22 20:26:00 That is exactly my point. That is checked, and hadn't been altered for a long time. I even unchecked it, closed down , started again, checked it, closed down etc. to see if that would kick start it. - No effect.

It actually looks like it is trying to delete the stuff, but it doesn't succeed.

Funny you should say that. I just had the same idea - didn't make any difference though. :annoyed:

317012 2005-01-23 00:56:00 Bingo! The inbox repair tool fixed it. 115 errors! The next question of course is how did the errors get there in the first place - and I think I know what it might be. In another thread I have been talking about problems with my joystick/video card etc. I'd been having various BSOD episodes, and I bet the PST file got corrupted when I had to push reset as a result of a BSOD.

Thanks everyone for their help.
