316738 2005-01-21 21:23:00 hey guys.
Okay, i just reformatted my pc.... While I was installing my video and sound drivers I had to restart.
I restarted, and after my Intel Motherboard logo comes up, it freezes everytime.
It never makes it to the Windows load bar.
I even tried to reformat again.
I put the disc in, and when it says setup is checking your hardware configuration it freezes and goes to a black screen.

I do not know what the problem is. I can get into my bios.

Also, when i was reformatting, there were a few errors, such as when it was copying the files. I had some small file errors I had to retry.

NEED HELP PLEASE HELP!

316739 2005-01-21 21:34:00 What version of windows are u trying to install? I would make sure the memory and everything else is in properly.

Or another thing u can try is, take everything else out, BUT the ram, the hard drive, the videocard (if this is onboard), well obviously u cant take it out.

Then try and install whatever you're trying to install. BUT if there are errors, the CD might be dirty. Give it a wipe. Reset the bios to its default settings, and reconfigure the hard drive to master and any cds/dvds you might have installed. You only have 1 soundcard and 1 videocard ? You're not trying to run 2 soundcards or 2 videocards at the same time are you? Without disabling one.

316740 2005-01-21 21:34:00 hey there,
what os are you trying to install?, and can you please list your pc specs:)
is the os disk clean and free from scratches?, try clearing your cmos aswell, by taking out the little battery on your motherboard for 10min and putting it back in and trying it again.

316742 2005-01-21 22:08:00 Is that hard drive IDE or SATA???

Has this motherboard got onboard sound?? If so, disable it in the BIOS. Since you have another soundcard..

316743 2005-01-21 22:17:00 SATA, yes the mobo has onboard. phaze (6962)
316744 2005-01-21 22:30:00 Have you used that SATA hdd on this system before?? And does the BIOS have a SATA option? And does the hdd get detected in the BIOS?

You have got 2 cables going from the SATA havent u?? One is for the data, the other is for power and needs to be connected to a spare molex connection from the power supply (if the power supply has an adapter, or you have to buy an adapter for the SATA hdd) .

Disable the Onboard sound in the BIOS as well . It might be conflicting with the Audigy .

316745 2005-01-22 00:00:00 sorry, but what do you mean by intel motherboard sign? is this a branded pc like a hp?
you could try someone elses xp pro disk but you will need to use your own key (your allowed to do this arent you?)

its also a possibity that the ram is faulty, try taking a stick out and trying it again, and do the same with the other stick too, and try memtest86

316746 2005-01-22 17:18:00 I guess the memory isnt the problem. No its not branded, custom built. What i mean by the intel sign is right when you start it up it says Intel Desktop Board. i have run this hardriver on this pc before.

This may be an issue, but while i was installing windows the first time, it had trouble copying some of the files, and errors were occcuring. I just kept hitting retry. I think this was because of the disk being scratched. What can i do to like, completely clear everything, without reformatting, or is there no way?
