316672 2005-01-21 11:07:00 Hi, I've used various volume control applications in the taskbar for some time. My conclusion is they all respond way too slowly.

E.g The standard windows one takes about 3-5secs to respond to my click. Happens on every computer I've tried no matter how fast. This gets pretty infuriating.

Even volume controls like Creative's one which you get when you install Audigy software, that's slow as well.

What gives? :annoyed: Anyone know any instant responding volume control apps that sit in the taskbar?

316673 2005-01-21 17:49:00 I don't know of any application that works, but the volume control buttons on multimedia keyboards seem to work instantly. ;) 4bes (2848)
316674 2005-01-21 19:25:00 I could make about 5-6 different solutions straight off the bat, but I dont think they would be relevant for your OS ;)

The best way I found was using the external Volume Control on my 5.1 Channel Creative Speakers :)

Yeah you're right it does.

Anyone got any that sit in the taskbar though? It'll take a while to break the habit so I can use the volume control on the keyboard. :p

316676 2005-01-23 08:21:00 There may be a deeper reason for the slowness. On my W2K PIII550 it comes up virtually instantaneously (<0.5 seconds), and the same applies for opening the full console of controls.

Maybe an uninstall/reinstall might clear a few cobwebs?

Cheers

That's the thing, it even happens on a fresh install. Even this one which is XP Pro SP2 slipstream which only 2months old it is still slow. I'm convinced it's just poor coding of the software.

All the computers at my house respond the same. Does no one else have similar slowness?

 I seriously doubt it.

Check my comp specs (firmware.orcon.net.nz), there is nothing that should be making it this slow.
