| 317273 | 2005-01-23 08:21:00 | Hi everyone. I'm in need of a deacent free bootloader. I've managed to get a dual boot Windows 98 and Windows 98SE situation going. Except for 1 thing. I can't choose what version of 98 to get into. I can use PQBoot to set which Operating System to use, but that's not wonderfully useful when I'm trying to use different versions every reboot. I'm using Partition Magic version 7, it's installed on both OSs. The 98SE install is currently set as C: (Thustly it's the one that's booting) and 98 is on a hidden partition. As usual, I'm looking for a free program ,Open Source is preferable. And yes, I'd like it to be Graphical (IE not a DOS remenicant) Many thanks, Edward :) |

| 317274 | 2005-01-23 08:37:00 | Doesn't Partition Magic still come with Boot Magic? That should do what you want. But you can use PQBoot to set whichever partition you want to be active, and then it will reboot the computer into the OS you want to use. It will need to be on both primary partitions. |

| 317276 | 2005-01-23 08:47:00 | Another thing, if you are going to be changing between win98 and win98se, then it will be very much faster when using PQBoot to edit your msdos.sys so that BootGui=0, and start up in dos rather than going into windows. There is no point in booting into windows just to come out of it again to use PQBoot. DOS is much much faster than windows for boot management. |
