| 317145 | 2005-01-23 02:03:00 | I'm after a new notebook, and never having had or even used one before can anyone give me some recommendations? I don't need any software or opsys installed. It'll be running XP Pro SP1, and the applications it will be used for is Photoshop, Dreamweaver, MS Office and a few other minor apps. It needs at least a CD writer/DVD reader, and 512megs RAM. Budget is two grand inclsive GST. I'll only buy from an Auckland based dealer. Thanks. |

| 317146 | 2005-01-23 02:08:00 | You have to first decide if you prefer a lightweight system,or a heavier more powerful unit. Going by your budget you may have difficulty finding a lighweight unit with a bit of grunt. |

The weight doesn't really make a lot of difference - it's not going to be lugged around a lot; it's mostly just as a toy for my missus. I'm also happy to accept quotes/buy from PressF1'ers. this one (www.dse.co.nz) from DSE looks good, with cash left over to upgrade the RAM to 512. |

| 317149 | 2005-01-23 04:32:00 | I saw a advertisement recently for the MSI M510C at playtech (www.playtech.co.nz) for $1999.00+GST specs:Intel Centrino 1.5Ghz, ATi Radeon 9700, 7hrs battery life, 15 inch screen not sure how much memory though but its a pretty good system looking at the specs. |

Might need a pen though :D this one from DSE looks good, with cash left over to upgrade the RAM to 512.... If they had it in stock. Also from Dick Smith is this one (www.dse.co.nz) -may need to order in 'due to popular demand'. Not too sure how the processor would handle Photoshop though. |

| 317151 | 2005-01-23 05:56:00 | Thanks folks. I'm pretty much decided on the Asus A2400H from DSE. Best specs I've seen for the price in over 3 hours of searching, including a great warranty. Stocks are due in this week so I expect to get it on Wednesday. |

For less than 15 more, I'd recommend you to look at theAsus A4500L (www.pricespy.co.nz).
