| 317137 | 2005-01-23 02:01:00 | now this is not a gripe, or help me type thread, just that i noticed a change in mail types . . . . . . still getting heaps of spam a day anyway . . . i received this today . . . . . one of the many and i veiwed it via mailwasher ( i dont normally), normally delete straight away . was intrigued to see that they have changed tactics, from nigerian wives who have lost husbands etc . . . . Dear Friend Please accept my apology for contacting you this way which was due to the urgency of my request . I am in need of a worthy business partner abroad, who can handle the investment of specified funds which have been lying fallow for sometime . If you accept to work with me, you would be my foreign partner to receive the said funds on my behalf, due to my sensitive position in my place work, and also to hold it in some investment until I can travel to meet with you . At your request I will intimate you with the blueprint when I receive your mail . NOTE: PLEASE FORWARD YOUR REPLY ONLY TO THIS MAIL BOX STATED HERE: davidmohir@excite . com for security reasons and make sure you include your private telephone and fax numbers for easy communication . Hoping to hear from you soon . Kind Regards, David Mohir does the email addy not give anything away ????? ha is it possible these guys make any money???? and if so are we all in the wrong business . . . . . . . . ha . . . . . . i think they need to get a life . . . . or maybe i do . . :@@: beetle |

If you have money to invest (as that will be the next response should you dare to reply) then I will gladly take it off your hands instead! |

| 317144 | 2005-01-23 08:06:00 | I've had 3 different Nigerian ones: each gave me a chuckle. But co-incidentally - and more worrying than those obvious scams - I got one closer to home only 15 minutes ago. I'd heard of the banking phishing ones, so when this arrived from WESTPAC INTERNET, I was suspicious. It's so very well done I'm not surprised people who haven't been warned fall for it. The page is sophisticated & so similar to Westpac's style it looks authentic. It says that because technical staff are carrying out a planned software upgrade they want me to "securely confirm" my details. Also that this instruction has been sent to all Westpac customers & is "obligatory to follow." The page their link goes to looks equally authentic - and of course asks for all the info you'd expect from someone intending to milk my account. Well, they'd not get much out of my current overdraft, but there'll be tears before bedtime in some places, I fear.. |
