317131 2005-01-23 01:25:00 How do i stop the Dial-up connection from popping up when i am working offline.I am using Windows 98.Its driving me round the twist. :o hairfield (6964)
317132 2005-01-23 02:29:00 Open Internet explorer, tools/internet options/connections tab, click on your dialup and select never dial a connection.

It could also be a dialler, if it does this often and never dial a connection is already selected. Or dont use the browser,(in offline mode, if this is what you're doing), as its thinking you want to go online, and its bringing up the dialup.

When swiching PC on it opens Internet explorer first thing without being asked.
How to fix it without cleen reinstall Win XP?

I would do a spyware scan does it also try make an internet connection also check the msconfig startup tab or start ->programs->startup see if there is anything legitimate or otherwise responsible for this

Make sure you dont have IE in your Start - All Programs - Startup folder

If there's nothing listed in the Startup Items folder, try
Start > Run > "msconfig" (no quote marks)
Move into the Startup tab and have a look through there for things you don't want running on startup.
