318065 2005-01-25 22:40:00 Hi guys, I bought LOTR:Battle for Middle Earth yesterday. Good looking game and plays well... when it doesn't crash that is.

Since yesterday it's been crashing after about 5 - 10 minutes of game play. I went and had a look at some forums regarding this and after a while I found a "reasonable" solution. All I did was move my SB Audigy card to a PCI slot closer to the AGP slot. This seemed to worked and I got about 30 minutes play after doing that. Then when I finished the Moria stage and went into the Rohan stage it crashed again after exploring some of the map area.

This is starting to annoy me and I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what the problem is.

My specs are below the post.... I've clocked my CPU back to the default 2.8Ghz, everything else is still as noted below.

Cheers

318066 2005-01-26 00:41:00 Well I just had another crash and I took a screenshot of the error box which came up but I can't load ImageF1 for some strange reason.

From what I read it appears the game is trying to read or write to a virtual memory address for which it has no access rights to. Thus the access violation error. I've changed my page file size to 1024MB and it was working ok until this latest crash occurred... I'll bump the size of the page file some more and see if that helps.. although I doubt it.

I've unloaded all other unnecessary programs running in the background as well.

318067 2005-01-26 01:01:00 Try the 1.5GB page file size which is default if you have a GB of RAM and set the maximum and minimum to the same.

If that doesn't help, then you might have a RAM issue and I would try Memtest on it.

Does the official game site or forums have any info on this? Might have been fixed with a patch etc?

318068 2005-01-26 01:03:00 There are no patches, and from what I've read from other gamers EA doesn't have a concrete idea of or a fix for the problem.

318069 2005-01-26 01:06:00 I've got an almost identical setup, except that I don't overclock my PC anymore and have a FX5900 Ultra. If you were overclocking, I'd suggest trying to change the ram timings back to "BY SPD"

I'd also check CPU temps and then run a memtest.

Lo.

318070 2005-01-26 01:35:00 Nothing is overclocked Lo, I've set everything back to their defaults, I was thinking maybe it could be a heat problem, I have one 80mm fan in the front and one at the back plus the dual fans on the PSU.

Just reading more forums to see if I can pick up on anything. Page file size is now set to 2048 and it still crashed.

Memtest came up with no errors.

cheers

PS: I've been secretly thinking about buying a new graphics card, maybe the game can sense that.... lol :)
