| 317616 | 2005-01-25 01:57:00 | Apparently the problems started not long after my friend updated AVG to the new version so she is worried that had something to do with it . I rubbished that theory, saying it is a coincidence but I think that's the story she told the store when she took it in . They have obviously taken advantage of it in order to discount her warrranty claim . Is that a dirty trick or what?! Any man and his dog can come in with a broken PC and mention it happened right after they did this or that . That doens't make it the cause and the shop will damn well know this . The hard drive has failed, and there appears to be no evidence of anythign other than a drive failing under warranty . End of story . They should replace it - unless they have any evidence to the contrary . Agent said: Once again I shall say that HP are crap and here's another story to prove it . This isn't necessarily an HP issue . It all depends who this shop is and who made a decision there to claim this was not a warranty issue . |

| 317618 | 2005-01-25 02:11:00 | Another approach is to contact HP themselves and say you are unsatisfied with the service offered by one of their dealers (assuming this shop is an authorised dealer). Make it their problem, since the dealer must meet their criteria, one assumes, to continue as an authorised dealer - and refusing to replace a part under warranty for no logical reason hardly counts as the kind of customer service a company like HP should be allowing its dealer chain to get away with. | Biggles (121) | ||

| 317622 | 2005-01-25 04:00:00 | Yeah, but it doesn't work on any drives newer than about 10 years old...... | george12 (7) | ||

Hp normally supply a 0800 Support Line number ( even if it goes offshore, but you can ask to be transfered back to NZ)with their product purchase's, I would ring that number and make a complaint and also write down the support persons name, time any other details. You may need this later. |
