318494 2005-01-26 23:28:00 Hi people a friend of mine from work has a friend thats has just connected to jetstream but they cant connect to any sites because the modem is still using the default IP address 10.1.1.4. Would they have to ring xtra to get a static ip address or will it have installed a link on the desktop like the D-link 302 that comes with the xtra pack ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. 318497 2005-01-26 23:46:00 Use the CD that came with the Xtra pack, make sure blue cable is connected to Realtek card, phone line to wall socket, choose Ethernet connection - in other words, read the manual, as already advised. If in any doubt or no idea - I mean this in the nicest way - get a technician or someone who has actually set this model (D-link 302) & succeeded - to help. I do this almost everyday & I still read the manual (no room for complacency here). quarry (252)

318500 2005-01-27 00:43:00 I havent seen the pc yet but i have a list of details here it also has Microsoft PPP over ATM adapter and the pc is running win 98 Overdrive_5000 (4950)
318501 2005-01-27 21:05:00 I have the same Modem etc etc etc.

I was trying to set it up via Ethernet - as the manual says - Eternet is preferred.

After 2 hours of trying, I gave up, and plugged it in Via USB2.
No problems, and its running fine - took about 10 minutes.

I dont know why it wouldn't work, but I have the same ethernet controller on my Board. Might be a modem/chipset issue.

318502 2005-01-27 21:17:00 hm..........win98 not 98se ?.........I've heard or have a vague memory of someone somewhere stating they had MAJOR troubs with win98 instead of 98se with ethernet adsl modem...........i've set these up myself but cant remember wether they 'll handle just 98 first ed.........anway........try this.......install the drivers from the cd then plug it all in......ethernet.......then open any webpage, Like your home page, and dont worry if you the the old 'page cant be displayed' thingy.........just type in the addy bar http://10.1.1.1 and tap enter that should get you into the setup screens wihch are installed in the modem itself...... drcspy (146)
