318646 2005-01-28 03:51:00 Support for AVG Anti-Virus 6.0 extended to February 15, 2005

In November, 2004, Grisoft announced the end-of-support of AVG Anti-Virus 6.0 as of January 31, 2005. In order to provide additional time for our customers to upgrade their licenses, this date has been extended to February 15, 2005. All support, including virus database updates, program updates and technical support will be discontinued on this date!

Users of AVG 6.0 who neglect to upgrade to AVG 7.0 by February 15 will no longer be protected from viruses by AVG. In order to continue to be protected by AVG Anti-Virus, you must be using AVG 7.0. Read more...

Home users of AVG Free can find out more about the AVG Free release on the web.

u7avi444u392u0.bin

These are the 2 updates we are talking about. If you go to the grisoft site they are there for all to see plain as day.
The auto updater works fine just give it time to do its job and stop looking over its shoulder. It is a bit like watching the kettle boil, it seems to take longer when you stand there watching it.

318650 2005-01-28 09:09:00 I have recently freshly installed AVG7.0 free edition on two computers.

While updating the virus definitions on one pc I have had no problems, but with my other I have several server timouts and even failed downloads 80% complete. In the end it did however update successfully.

Maybe the servers are stretched as some people have suggested?

P.S. coming from PC-illin 2002 (which I loved), AVG7.0 has so far been a great alternative and not nearly as system resource hungry as other free virus programs that I have tried.
