2005-01-27 20:17:00 | Gidday Shaun. It must be a server prob at the ISP end. You havent entered the newsgroups server in wrong, as you're in there, you just cant see whats in them! Altho, if it (the news server) was dead dead, you wouldnt be able to get a list of the newsgroups. You did right mouse on the main server that was created, right mouse / newsgroups didnt u?? Thats when a window saying downloading the newsgroups should appear - Is this where yours stop - at this downloading stage? (if you've entered in the right newsgroups server (ie: for Ihug Auckland under Tools/accounts/news tab, Ihug's would be (for Auckland), news.akl.ihug.co.nz. Yours would be something like news.paradise.co.nz? And this should appear in the left window (where the Inbox is etc are). This is when u right mouse on the server / newsgroups....

2005-01-27 20:37:00 | No the news server is all correctly installed. I haven't actually right clicked on the server in the lefthand window - I'll try that and see what happens - normally the groups are listed below the server name and you just click on the one you wish to visit and then click on the posts that you wish to download - clicking on the posts is the bit that doesn't work. This morning when I tried again - an Explorer window popped up - so I'm wondering if there is some other little bug hiding on the HD that could be causing problems

2005-01-27 20:45:00 | Normally (on Ihugs new server anyway) the news server name is on the left (right/mouse/newsgroups) then a window appears (hopefully with the newsgroups), then u select which ones u want and OK. Then they appear under the news server on the left. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2005-01-27 20:57:00 | With Paradise the server is on the left with the subscribed groups listed below - pretty similar to a root directory tree | Shaun2005 (6384) | |
2005-01-27 21:03:00 | Yup it is ONCE you get the newsgroups and add them..... Then they fall under the server on the left. You havent got anything that might be blocking you from seeing the actual newsgroups have u?? Which I doubt, coz you may not have been able to get the main server in the first place! Oh well, see what paradise say. Most probably what other ISPS say. It's your fault!

2005-01-30 21:48:00 | Morning Speedy - no good news after the weekend - have had to reformat "C" and start from scratch again - according to Paradise it was possibly an error with OE6 - and they advised downloading a new version of the net - thats when I found that IE6 had given up the ghost totally. So I reformatted and loaded 98SE (but that wouldn't find my modem) so this morning the pc was loading XP and I'll test it tonight. Thanks once again for your help :badpc:

2005-01-30 21:52:00 | Gidday Shaun. Hmmm very strange prob. Cant say Ive had a prob like this before even if i formatted. I would make sure i get all updates (and SP1 or 2). Dunno what else it could be. Other than a dodgy OE, playing up. Good luck this time!

2005-01-30 22:11:00 | I think I found the cause - you replied to a post by Oggy - regarding EULA's - I had the same package with a lot of its mates also - not sure where they came from - but hopefully they're gone now | Shaun2005 (6384) | |
