Dude, they are the one allowing people to sign up are they not?? If they really did care about the level of service that they can provide, they should have stopped people from signing up to UBS long ago? Before they got 700 extra customers?? And I would guess that Orcon did know how much bandwidth they would be getting from Telecom, and hence they should be able to estimate how many customers they can have on UBS WITHOUT compromising the quality of their service? And how many times must it be said that with UBS, Telecom has control over the level of service. You've said you don't care if it's Telecoms fault, which is just stupid. It sounds like all UBS customers are suffering problems, no matter what ISP they are with. And how is that stupid? Who are we paying our money to? Telecom? No, it's Orcon... you are stupid in believing that everything is Telecoms fault and Orcon has no responsibility what so ever. Orcon should be the one dealing with Telecoms, while we are the one dealing with Orcon, that's how this hierchy works. In that case, how can you simply state you want to hand your money back to Telecom? You should be lobbying Telecom to provide a fair level of service to the ISPs using UBS. That's Orcons job, not mine. We get our compensation from Orcon because thats who we pay our money to, and Orcon if it is really Telecom's fault should get compensation from Telecom. Is that so hard to understand?? Not trying to diss you here agent, I just don't see things the way you do I suppose... and are you with orcon by any chance? Have you any idea how long I have put up with this connection?? |

I've had one or two disconnections (admittedly really late/early when I should really have been asleep). I get the full quoted speed from them as well. As for people having a major issues with ping times. Most of that can probably be blamed on all the depeering that has been happening lately. |

| 318927 | 2005-01-29 00:28:00 | I would guess that Orcon did know how much bandwidth they would be getting from Telecom, and hence they should be able to estimate how many customers they can have on UBS WITHOUT compromising the quality of their service? I should think that Orcon would try to get more bandwidth to suit the amount of customers they have. They shouldn't have to limit their customer numbers because of a limit imposed by Telecom, if that's how UBS works. Who are we paying our money to? Telecom? No, it's Orcon. My understanding is that an ISP forks out a lot of dosh to get UBS, and that money goes to Telecom. I also understand that they make very little revenue from UBS customers, but this may not be correct. We get our compensation from Orcon because thats who we pay our money to, and Orcon if it is really Telecom's fault should get compensation from Telecom. And are you with orcon by any chance? Have you any idea how long I have put up with this connection?? Once again, I am sure that Orcon would be trying their best to give all their UBS customers the highest quality of service that they can. They are, however, restricted by what Telecom provides. As I stated earlier, I do not think that they should limit their customers because of limitations imposed by Telecom. It's ridiculous to do so; it means not only does Telecom pretty much control the PSTN, they can also control their competitors. And no, I do not use Orcon as my ISP. I am with Xtra, but if I had any say in the matter I would be with Orcon for personal reasons (read: I loathe Telecom and Xtra). I do, however, have a free email account with Orcon, and I think they are a fantastic company for offering this service to New Zealanders. |

If what you say is really the case, and that all this is because of Telecoms monopolistic marketing strategy again, then NZ have major problems in their commerce legislations. But at the end of the day, Orcon's customers are the ones suffering and we are the one paying for a substandard service.....One can't help but to feel being cheated by either Telcom or Orcon .... which ever .... doesn't really matter... |
