| 319133 | 2005-01-29 20:15:00 | Hi Would appreciate some help with this long-term issue. It's been a problem from Day One after moving the Nokia router from an old PC set-up to a new one about 2-1/2 years ago. I've never bothered to fix it but it's now becoming more of a problem as I need the ADSL to be 'always on' more than I have in the past. Simple problem. Windows XP SP2 machine, Nokia M1122 router on its own dedicated line, unlimited JetStream connection via Quicksilver ISP. The router and internet connection work no problem on boot up and are very stable and fast. However I always, without fail, lose the connection after a few hours - roughly 2-3 hours from boot up I think. The router still shows Ethernet connection to the PC and DSL connection to JetStream, but no data will come through. I thought it was PC-specific but I appear to have the same problem when I connect my laptop (also Win XP SP2), so perhaps not. A modem reset does not fix the problem. The only way to get internet connections working again is to fully reboot. Look forward to some ideas. Thanks! Mark |

Have a look at your modem manual for the location of the reset button - normally a pinpoint hole that you push a pen nib into. This will wipe out all your settings and return the modem back to factory default settings. You might also want to investigate upgrading the modem firmware. Have a look on the manufacturers site for the modems latest firmware that is available. |

It connects permanently via Ethernet so that modem setting is not available. Jen - factory resets make no difference and the modem is running the latest firmware. Thanks anyway. |
