319745 2005-01-31 08:47:00 Is it normal to have good picture quality with normal free to air tv & a noisy picture with sky digital. It's on channel 38 which is UHF. Otherwise is there a card that does UHF as well. The coax wiring is connected & split as it should be.

319746 2005-01-31 08:54:00 sounds like either to low a signal or to high. check your splitter setup.

if at all possible use av leads (no idea if your card has av input or not)

319747 2005-01-31 13:13:00 You need to run Sky through a decoder.

Do you have a UHF areial on the roof?

Do you have a VHF areial on the roof?

If you have both you merge them up on the roof and run one cable down to the card.

You'll be lucky to get digital sky or UHF sky with that card. It wont work.

phil has already mentioned that its running via the decoder, no need for outside aerials and so forth. it should work fine.

319750 2005-02-01 02:08:00 I cant see in Phils post anything saying decoder.

It says digital, doesnt mean he has the sky digital service or the decoder,

Just that he's got a TV expert tuner, and he's trying to get sky (or UHF) on it.

If he's saying he has a decoder, whats the point of talking about the tv expert card which is a tuner, and which wont work with either digital or uhf sky.

the only way to get sky digital on channel 38 is to use a decoder (38 is default output). other than that there is no sky service on any ch38 and sky digital is satelite not UHF.

the fact that hes actually got a pic means its all working. odds are its just a bad connection (or to many splitters off the decoder).

319752 2005-02-01 02:37:00 Well if he had a decoder, whats that got to do with the topic??

(A TV Card isnt a digital sky TV decoder is it) .

Well, he'll get a pic alright coz its a tv tuner, and thats the point of a tv tuner, to show tv channels and a picture so u have something to look at .

On free to air channels . BUT the only UHF you might get on a TV tuner is Juice or C4 the music channel . And the Maori channel, if he's in NZ .

And if he wasnt talking about a TV tuner, why mention it in the first place, in the first post? And in the topic?

319753 2005-02-01 02:42:00 lmao .

Plenty of people (well a few anyhow) run a lead from the sky decoder into their tv card in order to record and burn to DVD or just to watch .

One i set up the other day even had it so when Video's where played on the tv it was displayed on the comp, and the person in question had every single episode of every single series of Start Trek . . . . .

And seeing as I am bothering to post,The picture quality has been crystal in every case I have done,so there is a fault somewhere to find .
