319665 2005-01-31 03:51:00 I have a Toshiba A70 series laptop. When playing CD's. the sound volume can be varied to an acceptable level (when put through external speakers).
When I play a DVD however, the sound volume is very limited. Is there a tweak to this situation (to up the volume when playing DVD's on the laptop)?
Any suggestion greatfully accepted.

319666 2005-01-31 05:26:00 Are you using a different program to play the movie as opposed to the CD.
Does that have a volume control on the program as such. I.E. in addition to the master volume control for the soundcard properties.

319667 2005-01-31 06:49:00 Whatever dvd playback software your using
go to configuration (or properties or setup, whatever)
click on audio and and advanced and you might see a setting for different audio configurations, one of which might be noisy/boosted environment which is recommended for laptops. Louder but crappier sound. Better than muted quality sound anyway :)

You could try VideoLAN Client (Region-Free DVD Playback) otherwise, as that has some nice config options which may help.

Chill.
