319510 2005-01-30 22:58:00 I have recently installed a new hard drive to my PC. In the installation process I had problems with the OS and the old Hard Drive wasn't able to be booted after start up.
The old hard drive wasn't deleted, as I was able to retrieve data and old files from the old hard drive.

The OS was reinstalled on the new Hard Drive. However I have subsequently lost my Microsoft Outlook (full version not Express)

I want to know if I can retrieve the old messages from Outlook. There wasn't a backup done of the email folder prior to the installation.

I am running XP Pro on a P4 3.0 GHZ with 1 GB Ram

Anyhelp would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

319511 2005-01-30 23:14:00 Do a search on the old drive for *.pst file. this contains all your info, including mail. pheonix (36)

319513 2005-02-03 13:36:00 Good question as I'm in the same boat.

Now, I've done a search on one of my old hard drives and have come across the "*.pst" file.

How do I import that into the new drive without deleting the current settings on the new drive? And, while I'm at it, what is the file for the address book on the old drive?

Thanks in advance!

319514 2005-02-03 13:54:00 Open outlook
On the File menu, click Import and Export.
Click Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
Click Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click Next.
In the File to import box, specify the path and file name of the .pst file you want to import....
I'm not sure what you mean by deleting current settings on the new drive??
Outlook.pst stores addresses and messages...
Good luck

Sorry, after I posted I realized that didn't make much sence!

Meaning the current addresses and email I have on the new drive (the way I have Outlook configed right now). Will importing the PST file over-write anything in Outlook the way I have it set-up now..

It would pay to back up your existing .pst file first.
