319359 2005-01-31 08:21:00 To boot from the MBR of hdc Grub should have something along the lines of root(hd2) as it's first entry for that boot setting.

If you're going to try it with hdc as the new hda/hd0 though, it should work fine.

319361 2005-01-31 21:36:00 Why not try this:
m0n0.ch

I read a few reviews a while back on it and it seemed to be brilliant

It may be _just_ what you're after :)

Chill.

319362 2005-01-31 22:38:00 m0n0wall (m0n0.ch) is a firewall FreeBSD distribution. ClarkConnect (http://www.clarkconnect.com) might be more towards what you're looking at. Jeremy (1197)

319364 2005-02-01 01:04:00 Yeah, BSD it may be, but easy to use it seems too... end of the day if it does what you want, then does it matter?! Chilling_Silence (9)

It being BSD based doesn't matter. But it's a firewall, so it won't really be much use for what he's wanting.

319366 2005-02-04 07:52:00 Hey guys,

I tried installing it with the HDD as pri Master, and it didn't help - same error.
My friend is trying now, and struggling (errors, forced exits etc.).

I have also found out that he only has a 518mb hard drive, which may be an issue. Anyone have any ideas?

319367 2005-02-04 19:39:00 The size of the hard drive is going to restrict you to using a really compact distro that doesn't come with a whole lot of unnecessary crap. You could try some of the other distros mentioned, although given Tiny's nature you might be able to get an install under 400MB with a web server, FTP server, and mail server.

I'm not sure why you're still getting the errors though, maybe you're doing something wrong with the partitions or configuration of the bootloader.

You could try posting the partition table here along with Grub's menu.conf file (or whatever bootloader you are using).

319368 2005-02-04 21:21:00 m0n0wall is also a web server, is it not?

Try something like Vector Linux :)

Im not even sure you could get Gentoo on that, as im having a hard enough time with my 1GB Drive!
