| 320413 | 2005-02-01 07:28:00 | Just before finishing booting and before the desktop appears, I get this message. One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful." I've tried eveything from reinstalls, updates, patches, different RAM,different BIOS versions, everything I can think of.It's an Evo N1020v. P4 2.4Ghz. 512 RAM, WinXP and XP Office fully patched.I realise these laptops have heat issues so my next plan is to dismantle it and see if anything has disconnected. It seems to be a software problem but I thinks it's hardware.I've tried evrything on the compaq website.Any help would be great. Ths error listed above is the first sign of things to come. Programs disappear, i lose functions, can't shut down, the list goes on. It's not a virus as I have had the error straight after re-installing without any internet contact. |

| 320414 | 2005-02-01 07:30:00 | Try running a registry cleaning program like Regseeker that will unclog the registry. Your program isn't hardware based, it's to do wih the registry, so don't bother dismantling it ;) | Edward (31) | ||

| 320416 | 2005-02-02 01:31:00 | Thanks. I've tried various Registry cleaners. It all seems fine. Thats on a fresh install of XP Pro with SP2. Has anyone had any issues with heat and "chip creep" with these laptops? | johnh30 (7100) | ||
