319999 2005-02-01 02:00:00 Hi,

My friends mum bought and downloaded NIS 2004 from the symantec website last year.

She got the activation key etc sent to her in the email.

I found all the nesacery (i went to school, honest..) files in the temp folder before I formatted the hard drive.

I reinstalled it... went fine.... put in all the virus definitions that were in there before... went fine.

Go to activate, put in the key, click activate, connect to the internet.

It searches for about 10 seconds then gives up saying it can't find the servers.

It is definitely connected to the net, its 56k however. There is no proxy, direct connection.

I was wondering if anyone knew the number to call symantec to moan and abuse them on how activation sucks @ss...

Or, find out how I can fix it.

Anyone know? I tried the website but could not find the number after struggling, squeezing and strangling the thing for in excess of an hour....

Cheers

Thought don't be an asshat and "moan and abuse" at the staff member, remember the person answering the phone didn't write the program - it's not their fault.

Edit: BTW that info was two clicks off their web-site. www.symantec.co.nz --> About Symantec --> Contact Us
