| 319993 | 2005-02-01 00:34:00 | Hi people recently I have been having problems with my comp locking up,(my first thoughts were the cpu must have been overheating) CTRL + ALT+ DEL wont work restart doesnt always work most of the time I get 3 beeps 1 long 2 short which according to my mobo manual it means problem with monitor or video card. The lockups occur most of the time when I insert a cd to play a game (vampire -the masquerade bloodines). They only changes are latest catalyst 5.1? and instalation of the game. Any Suggestions as this is very frustrating :badpc: :help: My Specs are: Gigabyte GA-7VT600 mobo (award bios) AMD Athlon 2400XP 512 DDR 400 Ram 40 Gb HDD Powercolour 9600XT video card LG 17 inch monitor 16x DVD-RW 52x CDRW |

I see from the Award BIOS beep codes, your pattern of beeps suggest to do this: "Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly." Have you checked out the card/monitor? |
