319784 2005-01-31 16:55:00 On two ocassions I have disconected my key board and used it on another comp. On both ocassions when I have plugged it back into no.1 comp it has refused to work. It's a USB Genius. The best keyboard I have ever owned.
I have 8 USB ports on my comp. and keyboard will not work on any of them .Even ones that I know are working. Then suddenly it has burst into life again and works perfectly.
I have checked the keyboard cable as far as I can without major surgery and everything looks OK. When I plug K/B into no.2 comp. it works straight off. This comp has only 2 usb ports.
Perhaps k/b needs time to find it's way around.

In device Manager/ human Interface devices I have
2 Hid compliant device
2 usb human Interface device
1 Logitech IFeel mouse.
All report they are working properly but not a clue as to what they do. (apart from mouse)

Under USB Controllers I have
3 USB Root hub
2 Standard open HCD USB host controller
1 USB Composite device
1 Standard Enhanced PCI to USB host controller
1 Belkin USB network interface. (MY ADSL Modem)

The first 7 say they are working but no explanation what they do.

Does all this look as it should be?

319785 2005-01-31 18:32:00 That looks fine J . Some USB devices, do do that . Sometimes my USB optical just turns itself off .

And the only way I can get it going is to plug it back into the hub . This may have something to do with power management (under the USB root hub entries in device manager) . Its to save power . This is usually enabled by default .

Turning this option OFF might fix it .

319786 2005-01-31 19:05:00 I notice under Root Hubs/Power That I have a mouse. adsl modem. Scanner.
Power adapter. (for cordless joystick). But there is no mention of Keyboard. Hitting refresh doesn't help.

319787 2005-01-31 19:13:00 Keyboards, even tho theyre USB will appear under keyboards, NOT a USB entry in device manager. Speedy Gonzales (78)

319789 2005-01-31 19:27:00 Well, thats the way XP sees it. Cant do too much about it. If its working thats the main thing.

Its when it isnt working, thats when u worry.
