1364044 2014-01-01 20:15:00 Chap bought a 9" Wadkin buzzer off me about 2 months ago. Having purchased the buzzer,he asked if he could delay pick for a week or two due to having a baby, I said yes of course.
He has yet to pick it up.
Trade Me have sent him an email asking him to pick up, I have sent numerous emails too.

He has paid for it.
What would you do?

1364045 2014-01-01 20:20:00 I'd want proof that he has had the baby. Richard (739)

Surely he could hold off for that length of time!

1364048 2014-01-01 20:48:00 You have been paid for it so what does it matter?
Put it aside for 6 months or so then relist, it doesn't cost you anything.

Keep the cash as storage fee.

I like your thinking, but,It weighs about a 1/4 of a ton and I am leaving house in a month or two.
New owner will not be happy.

He may not have survived having a baby?

It would have been a most difficult birth after all. :groan:

Actually the thought makes my eyes water. :crying

Email the guy or use whatever contact methods you have.
Make sure he is fully informed and you have done all you can.

1364052 2014-01-01 21:29:00 Yeah flick him an email giving him an ultimatum:
Pick up within two weeks, or you presume he no longer wants it, you keep the money, and relist it.

That's what I'd do :)

From a business ethics standpoint, IMO you need to be a little more flexible. (Business ethics is a balance between good and fair dealings - and the morality of the issue).

I wouldn't go quite as far as what Chill advocates; I'd say collect the item within 14 - 21 days of your email, if not collected, then put the item up for re-auction.

On re-sale, then you effectively have been paid twice for the same item, so you're ahead of the eight ball.

You are entitled to retain $x or x% for your efforts and retain that "handling fee" from the original bidder and that should be clearly outlined to that person. I would then specify a point at which the entire payment is forfeited, and again clearly outline that point. How much that is or at what point it is incurred is entirely up to you. Personally I would donate the amount to a favourite cause, remembering you have been paid for the item at the second auction, and you are retaining a handling fee out of the original payment as well.

Why not ask TM for an opinion? They're used to this kind of dilemma.
