1363975 2013-12-31 19:20:00 Is that really important to know? Surely they could find something better to study. wotz (335)
1363976 2013-12-31 19:34:00 Having already spent $X and X hours of research in dreaming up their name - Human Interface Technology Laboratory - they must have felt obliged to show us something for the money.

As a ROI, very little return as it turns out.

“Bureau of Useless Information” would have more accurately described their faculty.

1363978 2014-01-01 00:13:00 To be fair, I think you need a bit more context before you mock and jeer. It seems to me it could have possibly been a student assignment where while the topic itself was probably not too important, the skills and insights the students might acquire in undertaking it would be useful in a later "real-world" project. Well Tony maybe you would be good enough to give us an example of how and when “the skills and insights the students might acquire in undertaking it would be useful in a later "real-world" project”, as you put it, may hit “Pay Dirt”?

As far as I can see, all they are ever likely to produce is piles of gobbledegook.

Dahhhh, utter time and resource wasters from where I sit. :groan:

1363980 2014-01-01 03:21:00 The report says "green is indirectly associated with poverty...". That could be useful if in the future one was attempting to design a communications campaign. Remembering all the time that the piece linked to is a newspaper report that is presumably a brief extract from a much longer research paper. Who knows what bias the reporter brought to the subject - maybe what he wanted was exactly the reaction that is being shown in this thread.

Of course B.M may be quite correct and it is a cartload of horse manure. All I am saying is that unless you have access to the original material and objectives (i.e more context) it is not really possible to pass judgement.

BTW I have no problem with the title "Human Interface Technology Laboratory". I would have though anything that leads to better interaction between humans and the world is a good thing.

 I concede Tony, that is exactly where we’re heading if the Greens have their way.

As for the "Human Interface Technology Laboratory" were you thinking of this?

1363982 2014-01-01 04:51:00 Ah, the old "can't think of an argument so I'll change the subject" ploy. Nice. Tony (4941)

Or to re-design KiwiBank's logo? National Bank used to have a predominantly green logo, too ...

Remembering all the time that the piece linked to is a newspaper report that is presumably a brief extract from a much longer research paper.

Presumably? It's probably more the product of inept reporting by a reporter with an incomplete grasp of the concept of attempting to comprehend the subject matter before writing about it.
