| 1363558 | 2013-12-25 01:03:00 | At Queensgate mall last week a company from Chch set up a temporary shop in the middle of the floor and had a demo helicopter buzzing around. We always go over to our friends' house Xmas eve and they have a son that has mainly Lego for toys. I took a chance that his organic-green-wholesome parents would not mind him getting an electronic toy, i.e. the helicopter, so I bought it. Wow :banana great success - the boy loved it and his parents (our best friends) were genuinely moved that I gave him such a good gift (it was only $39 but they used to cost much more). Of course he crashed it many times learning to master the controls, but the plastic held up to the rough treatment. A 62 year old woman (another friend of ours) also invited to the xmas eve dinner was so enthralled with the helicopter that she will get one for :punk herself! Before I gift wrapped the helicopter I charged it up and tested it to see if it worked. That did it for me - I went to Noel Lem's and bought a one-day-only-sale $29 'copter and it works perfectly. So if you have never had a remote controlled helicopter and want a bit of cheap fun and laughs, go out and get one. BTW these cheapies are made for indoors only, although when there is no wind I will try it outside at night when there is no infrared from the sun to interfere with the controller. |

| 1363561 | 2013-12-25 07:15:00 | Yeah, a few Christmass ago my daughter bought me one whilst we celebrated in Aus. Hmm, nearer 70 than 60 at the time but I must have mentioned I wouldnt mind a helicopter. This was not what I had in mind, but never mind. Anyway, her husband and the kids have quite an expansive home with the bottom floor being open plan and what a place to learn to fly a Chopper. :banana I got around to opening the screen doors and chasing a fly or two in and then declaring war on them. :) However, in subsequent years I have been unable to locate my chopper and nobody has seen it? Could it be that a grandchild succumbed to a fly whilst at the controls? But like Strommer says, great fun, but you do need a bit of space, waste of time in the dunny. ;) |

My it is touchy on the collective. Just got to figure out how to get down from the top of the only big tree on the neighbours place. Cant even see it from the ground. |

Did you buy a large, expensive helicopter that is able to fly outdoors? The cheap small ones are supposed to be indoors only due to the Infrared controller not working with the sun during the day. |

| 1363567 | 2013-12-28 23:39:00 | Just bought the cheap one and knew it wasn't for outdoors but it was dead calm, no bright light and I had successfully mastered it managing to take off and land back on a small piece of plywood on the grass. Not sure whether I over corrected on the collective or got a small gust of wind but it shot up and away. Come top think of it when I flew full size helicopters I remember doing the same which excited the instructor. LOL. Going to buy another one and be a bit more careful next time. |
