1363504 2013-12-24 09:03:00 We need a photograph of this wilderness to make sure we are giving correct advice. :p Jen (38)
1363505 2013-12-24 10:48:00 I hear 2,4,5-T and 2,4-D are pretty good for reducing unwanted foliage to nothing in a very short time, especially when combined.... (en.wikipedia.org)

However there may be serious long-term health side effects, so be cautious with the application - make sure the wind is blowing away from your house...

The other difficult matter is actually procuring it...

1363506 2013-12-24 18:38:00 But what's the cheapest and quickest option? Definitly can't afford to pave the whole damn area.

Mowing it.
If and hour and a half id too much effort, hire a mower person.

Paving - asphalt is cheaper than concrete.

1363510 2013-12-25 01:09:00 What about plastic tarps across the area? Blocks the light, blocks the water, everything dies, but at least the ground isn't poisoned, and all done in 30 mins.
If the budget doesn't stretch to enough tarps, just move the one tarp every 2 weeks till the job is done.

Now that you mention it, I recall we did that here years ago. Easy and cheap. Might be just the thing.
