Yeah, that was my problem, figuring out what the logic behind it all was. I came to the conclusion it was change for the sake of change, with someone in M$ fixing something that wasn't broken and justifying their employment, a condition that's rampant in the IT industry.

Thanks WT, I installed the program to change the 2007 menu back to 2003. Great stuff! :clap:clap:clap

How to bring back the old menus in 2007 (www.howtogeek.com)

Yes the ribbon is great if you know where everything is.
But who does ?
And its all hidden
And they keep changing it around.

I am not really all for 3rd Party add-ons.

1363923 2014-01-01 00:19:00 I think the OP has hit on a particularly irritating/illogical placement of a feature. I've just been through exactly the same process of trying to change table to text and had to resort to Google as well. In general though I think the ribbon is OK once you get used to it. There are definitely some improvements that could be made to the placement of stuff. A major improvement would be to make it customisable, so you could create new tabs or rearrange existing ones. I think that was added in Office 2010.

Yup :) I've got Office 2013 but I'm assuming it'll work the same; right-click any tab on the ribbon and select Customise, and you can change pretty much everything :) (it's also exportable)

1363928 2014-01-01 17:49:00 Being able to customise it and export it does not fix the basic problem with the Ribbon !

People can never find what they want quickly!

People can never find what they want quickly!Surely we've just solved that - use the customisation to put everything where you want it.
