1363408 2013-12-23 08:55:00 I heard this anthem for the first time last night at Leonard Cohen's concert at the Vector Arena...

"Democracy is coming, to the USA"

Leonard Cohen - Democracy (www.youtube.com)

I just want to share it with those who, like me, haven't heard it until now.

The message isn't too far removed from our seasonal messages of goodwill.

Best wishes everyone for Christmas and the New Year ...

1363412 2013-12-24 06:26:00 An oldie but a goodie. As good as his Hallelujah

The Arena crowd didn't go overboard with Hallelujah; as a singer LC doesn't do it full justice. Jeff Buckley easily eclipses LC and every other singer with his version. But the show was pure magic, with LC supported by a consummate group of musicians and singers. The audience was respectful towards, and putty in the hands of this maestro. Superb.

PS: on the subject of Hallelujah, I think all the people who like to view the work as praising an almighty invisible person who lurks above the clouds and who is charged with ruling over all of us mortals, need to understand the artist better. In Hallelujah Leonard Cohen is in his element with acidic comment veiled with innocent sounding platitudes. Think about it ... we have an emasculated king voicing gratitude for being an apparent recipient of an act of fellatio. And the innocent cherubs and kiddies and church groups sing this song in the mistaken belief it glorifies the afore-mentioned lurker above the clouds. :devil

1363413 2014-01-01 03:01:00 USA is well down the list of democratic countries. NZ is about 4th or 5th. Botswana from memory is the most democratic country in Africa and Uruguay definitely is for South America.
Some useless info for you all ! :)
