| 1363396 | 2013-12-23 05:52:00 | I have just repaired a Win7 laptop with Ukash on it, I used Kaspersky rescue disk and it took about 30 hours to fully scan the HDD but found nothing wrong!!!!!????? I then used HitmanPro and solved the problem in half an hour. I had a look through the HDD after a Malwarebytes scan and found Windows.old which is a 54Gig folder with the old Vista OS in it. Hence the excessive scan time ie scanning Win7 and Vista, about 100Gig total!!! So the question is: if necessary, is it possible to return the computer back to Vista if ever desired by the owner or are the folder contents just to recover old files if needed? I will speak to owner and then delete Windows.old if there is no utility in keeping it. |

As far as I know there is no way to roll back to the Windows install in the old folder. Why would you want to anyway seeing as it was Vista??!! |

| 1363399 | 2013-12-23 17:59:00 | If I remember correctly, when you first start the upgrade a message appears that says that you will be setting up a new system and that the previous version of windows will be named Windows.old and that you will not/never be able to restore that version - or words to that effect. | Bryan (147) | ||

It sounds like a pointless exercise, expending effort and money to be exactly where you were. Except for PCuser42 of course. With his vista, w8 and rail proclivities "working properly" is not at all as others understand it. Merry xmas ;) |

Once I have established that he has no use for it I will delete the 54Gig folder. Thanks all who participated. Merry Xmas. Don't stop R2x1. |
