2005-02-02 12:37:00 | Has anyone dealt with this Christchurch based outfit? Any problems and the like? Sorry about being a bit cliched with this post...

2005-02-02 14:38:00 | They seemed okay when I got something from them. Their website could do with some "work" (can't even seem to connect at the moment). Thye used to be good because they were really cheap (well for some things), but now there is a number of cheaper suppliers out there (according to pricespy). This was some years ago.

2005-02-02 18:23:00 | I've never dealt with them, though I hear they're good on the customer service side. My pick at the moment would be Starlyte (http://www.starlyte.co.nz) (a new outfit, I believe). I ordered from them the other day, paid via internet banking, and my new 128MB Jogr key arrived the next day. Good value too @ $32 inc, though they don't take credit card which sucks. Is it just me being shallow, or do other people here find that where they buy from or choose services from online really boils down to how well their website is constructed and designed? I'd be hesitant to buy from a site that isn't well thought out and presented unless I really had to. Sorry for the thread hijack :)

Sorry for the thread hijack :) I also am cautious about using companies with poorly designed websites, and the Dragon PC one was pretty terrible last time I looked but I have not heard anything bad about Dragon PC as a business, |

2005-02-02 19:21:00 | I've dealt with them several times, as have a number of my friends. Back at University they were the cheapest around so got most of our business. The stories were almost always more bad than good. Turnaround time for replacements was particularly terrible.

2005-02-02 19:23:00 | I have read of some people having problems with Dragon PC (do a search of this forum) but have not had any bad experiences myself, apart from making the mistake of forgetting to add the GST to their online price so that the product I purchased worked out more expensive than I expected . :( Their prices are not the cheapest in town - TasTech are way cheaper but be prepared for less than ideal communication when making queries . If you are prepared to be persistant then you will get what you want . Note that I pick up from both places after ordering by email . Cannot advise about ease of warranty issues with either company .

Their replacement processes are aweful, it can take a very long time and a number of phone calls/emails to get anything done. On the plus side it you live in chch then their hours are quite good as they are open pretty late. |

2005-02-02 22:23:00 | Thanks for the replies... I'm just looking for a optical drive bezel (Lian Li's C-01) and the only place in New Zealand that has it (that I can find on Pricespy) is Dragon Computer... Anyone Know where to get this bezel in the Auckland area or any other place? Thanks

2005-02-02 22:26:00 | I've dealt with them a couple of times, first a few years ago when they were operating out of someones house - I bought some memory - they were the best price in town, and I've had no problems with it. More recently they've opened a couple of outlets around town and i bought a DVD writer from them. There's wasn't the cheapest price I found for the unit I wanted, but I negotiated with them and they matched the best price I'd found on pricespy. I used dragon in that case as they had the make/model I wanted, were based in Chch, and their listed price was reasonably competitive, and even more so when I asked if they could better the price and showed them what I had been able to find at pricespy. I haven't had to return anything so can't comment on after sales service, but from my experience so far I would buy from them again.

2005-02-03 08:16:00 | I have shopped at DragonPC quite bit before . I have only ever been a walk in off the street customer though (have emailed in advance before as well) . I have never had them ship stuff out to me . Some have had issues when getting goods sent out . But this is the same with all retailers, though some more than others . As for the website, it is terrible . The worst part is that a lot of retailers out there also have the same horrible website package, I would love to get my hands on the person that is actually spreading around that abomination of software . btw . Starlyte isn't a new outfit, they've been around a while . They've had a recent change of ownership I believe . As for the Lian Li drive bezels, any retailer which sells Lian Li goods will be able to get them in for you . A couple of examples: http://www . novapcpower . com http://www . stylespc . com http://www . overclockers . co . nz
