320715 2005-02-02 05:50:00 Hi all - this is slightly off the topic, but I want to make a slide show of digital photos, with a musical background for my rellies to play on their TV, through their DVD. What is a good software program I could use?

I have Nero 5. That didn't seem to work. I looked at a trial version of Ulead CD & Picture 3 - it seemed a bit clunky and not all that cheap...

Any suggestions would be welcome!
Cheers

320716 2005-02-02 05:57:00 Nerovision 3 (another Nero package), will definitely make slideshows with sound. And wipes / effects etc.

Or http://www.irfanview.com I think does slideshows not too sure if thats with sound.

320717 2005-02-02 06:04:00 Yes, I've used Irfanview - but not sure that it plays through a DVD onto a TV, or with music...

I don't know Nerovision 3 though - is it expensive, and what else does it do?

Thanks though! :)

320718 2005-02-02 06:17:00 Windows Movie Maker 2.

Is part of XP.

Only useful if you have XP though.....

320719 2005-02-02 06:17:00 Nerovision does burning to DVD, videocd, minidvd, super videocd, slideshows, with sound, and effects,

It also captures to the hard drive with something like a digital video cam with firewire (and most probably any other source of video input) .

Umm There's 7 programs in this package recode to do recode dvds with . Photosnap, I think u can load a pic into it, and change the brightness etc in it . Showtime plays dvds . Mediahome, to share files over the net, Photosnap viewer just to view pics with, and Cover designer to make cd covers with .

Dont know how long it lasts without registering .

320722 2005-02-02 07:51:00 Microsoft PhotoStory3 - a free program, VERY good, and comes with free music for background soundtrack etc. I have used it numerous times. somebody (208)
320723 2005-02-02 08:00:00 Ah ha - yes Photostory3 looks good, but regrettably, at the moment my operating system is Windows 2000...

I had a look at the Ulead program last night, but it doesn't seem to run very well on my computer - I am heading towards a reformat (when the big son comes in May - and yes, I have said I will sit beside him this time and learn to do it myself!).

Thanks again for all suggestions - they are appreciated!

320724 2005-02-02 10:38:00 If you want to get serious buy Proshow Gold from www . photodex . com . It is a great program and will write to several formats on CD and the new version will also write directly to DVD . Of course, svcd on a CD will play well in modern DVD players . It is not free but is still worth the price to me .

The big trouble with MS freebies is that they don't think you want to write to VD/DVD . They think you will play the shows on MediaPlayer or email them to gran!

I tried MS Photostory 3 using the same photos I had used in Proshow and I was amazed to see what a poor blurry result it gave . Switched back to Proshow and the change was obvious . I don't know what MS did to the photos, or whether it was a setting I needed to change, bit I certainly wouldn't bother with it .

Just my take .

Cheers,
Lindsay .
