Most 17" LCDs have a native resolution of 1280*1024 while most 19" LCDs have a native resolution of 1280*1024 as well. 19" LCDs sure are nice though. |

Most 17" LCDs have a native resolution of 1280*1024 while most 19" LCDs have a native resolution of 1280*1024 as well. 19" LCDs sure are nice though. Last month I was over in Sydney at a friend's house, and when I used their PC with a 19 in LCD screen, the resolution did not seem right, i.e., it seemed that it should have been set to a higher resolution. Reading the above comment, perhaps it could not have been at a higher reso. |

| 320679 | 2005-02-02 11:52:00 | It shouldn't be blurry at all. It should just be bigger. I've noticed that a lot of people don't use the correct native resolutions for LCDs though which is typically 1280 by 1024 pixels, they tend to use 1024 by 768 which depending on your LCD results in poor output. Also they tend to use the wrong refresh rate i.e 60 Hz instead of 75 HZ or vice versa, whioch can result in strange output. They also don't hit the typical AUTO button on the LCD to set the phase, etc etc correctly - it can help to do this when showing a checkboard pattern as a wallpaper. People should also use DVI connections (or at least get a better VGA cable ) to avoid interference. |

I'd just turn vsync off and rate limit the game to 60 fps or so. Vsync is a horrible feature unless you have consistent minimium frame rates of 40 or better. I'd rather live with some screen tearing when the frame rate is too high than have the frame rate suddenly drop to be one of the fractions of refresh rate that vsync will try to do (mouse control feels better too). |
